2020 Best and Fairest

2020 Best and Fairest

The 2020 Mens Best and Fairest was held on Saturday night October 17 at St Michael’s College – Mary MacKillop room. This venue is a long standing venue with partner St Michael’s and we were glad to be back there after a 2019 BnF in an alternative venue. Thanks to Keaton Thomas (Erin, Jo, Brad) for organising the catering and drinks and setting up the room. Thanks also to Peter Curran for coordinating the venue availability. There were many more hands helping in the background as well (Dave Irish, Paul Cutler, Blue MacDonnell, Simon Ebenezer, and more) We had a great turn out – almost 100 – and at the back of covid restrictions, that was a privilege that didn’t go unnoticed.

The night was somewhat different in that we were inducting two (2) new Life Members to the club. Lucas Stubing and Marty Davidson were surprised by their inductions, having initially been invited to present each others award. They both had prepared a speech for the other inductee and in true Lion’s style – when accepting their respective awards – they still gave a speech for the other member. Their families were on hand to witness the event (initially not invited ofcourse) so all round it was a great surprise. Congratulations to them both, they have served our club well and will continue to be part of our future.
