Womens Double Premiers

Chalk up 2022 as a win/win for SMOSH WL Womens Footy as we can claim we took out the double. Both Div 1 and Div 1 Reserves won their Premiership, and we couldn’t be prouder.

Div 1
The Division 1 girls took on Morphettville Park in the 2022 Grand Final last week. Going into the game with 1 win against Morphettville all year we knew it wouldn’t be easy. Throughout the first half it was neck n neck with the score only being a few points within each other. During the third quarter we were able to get a few quick goals which put us in front going into the fourth quarter. As a team we were able to keep Morphettville scoreless in the last quarter allowing us to win the Grand Final by 6 points!!! The team played an amazing game and should be so proud of how far we have come this season. The best players for the game were Kiana Lee, Charlotte Dolan, Grace jean Martin, Jorja Eldridge, Astrid Gooley.

Div 1 Reserves
With Ressies, we did it the hard way by having to play all games in the final series like it was our last… just to make the GF. Facing Payneham (who we hadn’t beaten all year) we were going in as underdogs, before the game there was a calm and focus like no other game this season. You could sense that the drought was going to be broken.
SMOSH were first to get a score on the board, by Div1R Division Best & Fairest Katelyn Wittman. Payneham hit back and quickly equalised. The second quarter brought a lot of contested footy and tempers started to flare but both teams were only able to add a point. Our midfield and Ruck were constantly dominating the stoppages. There was a calmness going into the 3rd and Smosh were able to kick into the breeze and push into a 7 point lead going into the last quarter. Payneham were able to kick a goal but defensively that weren’t able to get past the tackling pressure of DJ and interception marking of Tarryn.  With seconds to go, a chased down pressure of Shadow and tackle from Bronny on the goal-line caused a turn over that ran down the clock and finally after 4 attempts SMOSH DIV1R /Killer Bs/Ressies came away with the much earned Premiership cup (Penny). Shout out to our Skippers Nicky Noble and Kristina Shepard who have been amazing leaders all year.
Congratulations to Emma MacDonald for winning the Best on Ground medal. Well deserved!

Thank you to all the coaches, players, support staff, player sponsors, major sponsors, our kid crew supporters and everyone that was able to bring both Premierships to SMOSH WL womens this year. This is something special to be a part of and without that support it’s just not possible.

UP THE DEN!!!

We would like to thank our sponsors for the year and encourage our supporters to support those that support us, we couldn’t have done it without you.
